  • "Jobs and tool sequencing in an automated manufacturing environment"
Pankaj Chandra, S. Li, M. Stan, Published in International Journal of Production Research (1993)
  • A practical approach is presented for determining the sequence of jobs and tools in the magazine that would be required to process the jobs in an automated manufacturing environment. A heuristic procedure is developed which determines the sequences while minimizing the total set up and processing time.

  • "Managing batch Processors to reduce lead time in a semiconductor packaging line"
Pankaj Chandra and S. Gupta (1997)

Study of a semiconductor packaging line at IBM Bromont. It outlines a procedure to determine order release schedule and lot sizes for various work stations in the line such that total manufacturing lead time is minimized. The internal parameter of the procedure are set by simulation experiments and heuristics. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the robustness of the procedure with respect to various external parameters settings.

  • "Models for the evaluation of routing and machine flexibility"
Pankaj Chandra and M. Tombak (University of British Columbia, Canada). Published in European Journal of Operational Research (1992)

This paper presents models by which flexibility for a manufacturing system can be assessed. Two of the most fundamental types of flexibility, routing and machine flexibility, are examined. These models enable a manager to compare different system designs.
